During the 6th Green Hydrogen Summit Chile LAC 2025, the Chilean Economic Development Agency (Corfo) announced the “Industrial Rings for the promotion of H2V demand and its derivatives” call for proposals. This initiative aims to revitalize the economy and modernize the industrial base of the Biobío region by consolidating public and private sector expertise in the development of renewable energy.

Corfo’s Executive Vice President, José Miguel Benavente, explained that the call’s purpose is to accelerate the demand for green hydrogen and its derivatives, foster regional value chains, and facilitate industrial and commercial alliances. Selected projects, to be awarded in November, can receive up to 60% of their total cost, with a cap of US$5 million per project and a maximum term of six years.

The event, held for the first time in the Biobío region, brought together industry leaders, academics, and national and international authorities. The Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, highlighted that the national green hydrogen strategy was designed with the participation of all sectors, moving plans from “PowerPoint” to concrete regional projects. Meanwhile, the German Ambassador, Susanne Fries-Gaier, noted that the EU-Chile partnership agreement opens up new opportunities for cooperation and that both countries support a stable global regulatory framework.

Furthermore, Corfo also opened a Request for Information (RFI) to identify companies interested in manufacturing wind systems in Chile. This effort aims to create a local supplier chain that will boost green hydrogen production and contribute to decarbonization.
